Ascension Baptist Church is a congregation of believers who are firmly committed to the following beliefs:
God – We believe there is one and only one living and true God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
Jesus – We believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, that He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, that He was fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, and by His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of humanity from sin.
Holy Spirit – We believe that God the Holy Spirit convicts persons of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, and enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
The Scriptures – We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself, it is without any error, is a testimony to Christ, has salvation for its end, and is the sole authority for life and faith.
Man – We believe that man is the special creation of God, made in God’s image, male and female, yet has been separated from God because of sin, and is in need of salvation.
Salvation – We believe that salvation involves unbelievers being brought into a right relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Assurance – We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in Jesus Christ.
The Church – We believe that the church is a local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, and operating under the Lordship of Christ.
Baptism & the Lord’s Supper – We believe that baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ, is by immersion in water after salvation, and that it symbolizes the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers memorialize the death of Jesus Christ and anticipate His second coming.
Evangelism – We believe that it is the duty of every follower of Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations.
Eternity – We believe that people were created to live forever; they will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or with God through forgiveness and salvation.
